Old Melbourne Gaol (by kMuru)
The former prison, located in the heart of the city is now a recreation area. It housed and executed some of Australia’s famous criminals, a total of 135 hanged.
Ned Kelly, one of Australia’s most famous and iconic outlaw was hanged there in 1880.
It has been considered haunted by many, and some eerie noises can be heard at night.
It is now incorporated into RMIT University and a good design principle of “old meets new” can be seen as you wander around.
